Totally agree.

Like most if not all of the England players, they look thoroughly exposed without their foreign team mates around them.

Well said.

A lot of people's backs go up as soon as his name's mentioned. Me included.
He was just so overrated. Was an average player.
Dead ball (Free kick/corner/penalty) taker so he didn't have to run too much. The 'typical burst into the box' was a couple of yards trot after walking/creeping up to the area to get a tap in.
Needed half hour to pass or shoot (normally free kicks or penalties), couldn't tackle (too slow), couldn't head a ball or challenge for one, couldn't kick/pass with his left (unless a wild swing/shinned it). Only made the big crossfield pass again when half hour of time. The better players carried him and made the time for him. He went missing or hid in the big games (let the others do the work. you wouldn't hear his name for ages), but then he'd score the late penalty/free kick and get all the back page headlines. The same in the cup/league against the smaller/shit teams he'd come on as a sub and get the late goal or 2 to make it 4 or 5-0 and get the headlines (even though the shit team had chucked the towel in at 3-0).
So how he was ever was nominated/mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Messi and ronseal man for awards I'll never know.
As far as I'm concerned he was just an Overrated average player who got lucky.
And anyone who's played and knows their football, can see him for what he was. (I'm sure most of us on here have). Including geoffpikey I'm sure.

As for all the other shit he's done, we all know about and have seen all that as well.

The geezer's a cunt.

"They are laughing at the fact we managed to wish Ravel Morrison a happy birthday yesterday, but didn't mention Lampard at all. Barcelona paid respects to his career. Didn't know that. "

If this works, Ravel Morrison will be back with us in no time, and will quickly erase the memory of the good times with Payet.

They won't be laughing then...

274 career goals is superb for a midfielder.

Poor show...the club not acknowledging his Retirement.

He had a very good career for England and clubs...

And he was after all a product of ...The Academy of Football...

Where was Goldos Twitter...???

Poor PR by the club...

Being discussed on Talkshite right now. With Gabbidon.

Gabbidon says Lampard, on the pitch as a Chelsea player, obviously was hurt with the abuse WHU fans used to hurl at him.

They are laughing at the fact we managed to wish Ravel Morrison a happy birthday yesterday, but didn't mention Lampard at all. Barcelona paid respects to his career. Didn't know that.

All that together IS funny. But only at our expense! We truly are a PR disaster.

Re: Lampsy
Like Rooney, never did it at international level. Thought he used the excellent supporting cast he had at Chelsea very well and excelled in that role with Makele and Essien doing the unseen work. He complimented them very well and was a good passer of the ball if he had the options.

In a lesser team he would have found it much much harder to get all those goals IMO. We saw it with England and at West Ham although he was only a kid when with us.

The mark of a true great is that they look class in any team they play and can make things happen on their own. He was a decent Premiership footballer who worked hard, had great passing and provided goals from midfield as part of one of the strongest teams around for 10 years.

A "Great" player he was not IMHO

The only goal in a Chelsea v Barca game I remember was scored by the BLESSED Andreas INIESTA

Now THERE is a player who deserves a tribute when he does retire

Never consistently done it in the proper top games, especially to win them. Say that to anyone, and you'll get this response.

'What about his goal against Barcelona"

Says it all. People remember the one time.

Re: Lampsy
It's old ground but as someone who was in the BM Lower during his career my recollection that abuse was directed at Redknapp for seemingly never subbing or leaving out Lampard when he deserved or needed (like young players).
There was a feeling of nepotism but that was directed at the manager not the player who obviously doesn't pick himself.
All players get stick and again my recollection with Lampard that that he did get was more about frustration that he seemed to not be fit enough to show his ability at all times

That seems to be have spun into him being poked with pointy sticks while the whole ground chanted a wish to kill him.
The general feeling when he left was that £11m was good business and it would have been thought madness to say he was going to achieve what he did.

That said his behaviour since leaving has been a disgrace.
In comparison Jermain Defoe has been like Nelson Mandela and I would happily see him join us on a free in the summer

ih8 etc

Thanks for the info update...
I left UK in the 70s so never saw him play for us and knew little about his situation at the club...

Saw his dad and Harry Redknapp play many times...

Cheers

Re: Lampsy
The thing that wound me up about Lampard Jnr was that he exaggerated events with us to fit his own narrative later on. Yes, he got stick when he first came into the team because there were suspicions of nepotism but he also didn't help because he WAS lazy. And by the end he had as much support as any player because we appreciated he had proved us wrong. The Intertoto season in particular he was superb, and he was loved pure and simple. Of course, he couldn't accept that he'd ever played his part in the issue and so he had to make out that it had always been unjustified and poor him.

That nonsense about when he broke his leg away at Villa was the final straw for me - I was at that game and we clapped him off the pitch, to a man. Anyone - ie Fat Frank - who says otherwise is a liar.

Re: Lampsy
I knew his uncle and took him to games when he was around 6 years old, picked him and his nan Hilda up (Frank Seniors mum) in East Ham and got to sit with the players' families and anyone who was injured. Met Alvin Martin and a few of the others in the team at the time, nice experience but in hindsight should have done the little fuckers tendons with a pair of pliers.
